A man was killed early Friday morning in Orange County in an accident that State Police say was caused by icy conditions. The victim is identified as 67-year-old Lawrence Edward Shifflett of Barboursville. State Police Sgt. Les Tyler says Shifflett was driving a pickup on Route 33 west of Gordonsville when it slid on the icy road and hit a tractor-trailer in the opposite lane. That happened shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. Route 33 was closed for about four hours while the crash was investigated.
