Factors Combine To Send Gas Prices Higher

The petroleum industry says this is normally a bad time of year for drivers. Gas pirces go up as refineries change over to summer blends. Making matters worse now are problems overseas in Ukraine and the Middle East that are sending crude oil prices higher. Tammy Gobert of AAA  says we’re still better off than we were a year ago. The average price in the Charlottesville region currently is $3.23 a gallon. Last year at this time it was $3.59. Meanwhile, Gobert says there is a noticeable increase in accidents after we lose that hour of sleep. But she says drowsy driving is a year-round problem.
