Eight Killed On Virginia Roads During Holiday Weekend

Virginia had eight highway fatalities during the Fourth of July weekend, and four of those involved motorcycles. Motorcycle operators died in Albemarle, Orange and Brunswick, along with Virginia Beach. There were two fatal ATV crashes in Richmond and Montgomery Counties. Two pedestrians were killed. Those deaths happened in Newport News and Roanoke. Alcohol was a factor in at least one of the fatal accidents. 77 drivers were cited for being impaired behind the wheel. State troopers found 11,712 drivers who were speeding; and more than 2600 received a ticket for reckless driving.
