Driver Charged After Pursuit From County Into City

A pursuit that started in the county urban ring Thursday afternoon ended a short time later in the southern part of the city. It began at around 1 p.m. near the intersection of 29 North and Greenbrier Drive. An Albemarle Police officer tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle, but the driver took off. He eventually pulled over at the intersection of 5th Street and Harris Road near the Willoughby Shopping Center, got out of his car and tried to run but was captured. The abandoned car rolled back into the southbound lanes of 5th Street and hit a couple of other cars. 32-year-old Kevin Kay (pictured) was charged with felony eluding, felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
