Delay In Possible Charges Against McDonnell

Prosecutors have agreed to delay a decision on charges against Governor McDonnell. The governor and his wife Maureen were slated to be charged in connection with a gift scandal. That according to the Washington Post that cites people familiar with the case. But Justice Department officials have delayed any action after McDonnell’s legal team made a face-to-face appeal in Washington. At issue are allegations that McDonnell and his wife worked together to illegally promote a struggling dietary supplement company named Star Scientific in exchange for gifts and loans from the company’s CEO.
