County Parents And Educators Sound Off On School Budget

Many Albemarle parents are lobbying for higher pay for teachers, and won’t support larger class sizes. They had lots of advice Thursday night for the County School Board, as it struggles with a $ 6.7 million shortfall. Lisa Jones (pictured) and other educators say the school division has already absorbed painful cuts in recent years. Superintendent Pam Moran and her staff have listed some items that might be reduced during the next academic year.  Eric Strucko has told fellow school board members he considers raising class sizes as the last resort. The board members will hold several budget work sessions over the next two weeks. They expect to send a proposal to County Executive Tom Foley on February 13th.
