Councilors Okay Another Extension For YMCA

The city has granted another one-year extension to supporters of the YMCA. Mayor Satyendra Huja and most of his fellow City Councilors have agreed to make January 15th, 2015 the latest deadline for building a facility at McIntire Park. The city approved the McIntire Park site six years ago this week. YMCA supporters say they have been plagued with legal challenges and hassles from bankers. In other business, the council has agreed to receive proposals for developing a public lot on West Water Street. That lot is the current home of the City Market.
