City councilors have unanimously adopted a more than $150 million budget that will take effect in July. Vice-Mayor Dede Smith (pictured) is among the city officials who’s willing to contrast the Charlottesville process with what you’ll find in neighboring Albemarle. Some county homeowners have told the Albemarle Supervisors they should feel shame for their willingness to increase the property tax rates. The city has increased its cigarette tax by 20 cents per pack effective this summer.
