Child In Northern Virginia Was State’s First Flu Death Of 2014

A pre-school age child who lives in the State Health Department’s Northern Virginia region is the Commonwealth’s first flu death of 2014.  Virginia health officials have not identified the youngster or the home locality, but they told the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the child was four or younger. Deputy State Epidemiologist Dr. Laurie Forlano says the flu is widespread in Virginia this winter.
