A Charlottesville man has been accused of embezzling what an Albemarle prosecutor calls “upwards of $1 million dollars” from an Earlysville company. 58-year-old Michael Scott Grainger (pictured) is charged with taking money from Naeva Geophysics, a subsurface geophysical survey contractor. Court records state that the alleged embezzlement occurred between January and June 2010. Grainger faces nine counts of felony embezzlement. He was in Albemarle Circuit Court Thursday and will be back in court in December for another hearing.
