Burning embers from a woodstove. That’s what caused the Christmas night fire on Orangedale Avenue. Batallion Chief Rich Jones of the Charlottesville Fire Department says those embers set fire to the couch in the basement of one unit in a duplex at 827 Orangedale Avenue. The family of six from that unit has found housing through the American Red Cross. The woman who lived in the other half of the duplex is staying with family members. The fire occurred at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
