The campaign manager for congressional hopeful Lawrence Gaughan says his candidate wants to revive the economy in the Fifth Congressional District. Joshua Norris says Democrat Gaughan would be better for working-class families than incumbent Republican congressman Robert Hurt. Norris was a regional director for fellow Democrat Tim Kaine’s 2012 campaign for the U.S. Senate, and he plans to get some fundraising help from State Senator Creigh Deeds and other prominent Democrats. Gaughan (pictured in dark jacket and facing camera) is a first-time candidate who won his party’s nomination in late May. Norris spoke during the monthly breakfast Saturday for city and county Democrats.
