“Bypass 29 Now” Launches Campaign

A new group called “Bypass 29 Now” will go to bat for the proposed Western Bypass. Paul Wright, who’s a past chairman of the Albemarle Architectural Review Board, supports the project. Wright believes bypass opponents have misled the public on air quality issues. He says the new organization will use social media such as Facebook to fight the bypass critics. Many environmental groups are trying to get the new McAuliffe administration in Richmond to pull the plug on the bypass. Jeff Werner of the Piedmont Environmental Council believes the road’s supporters are promising too much.  The PEC and other environmental groups have opposed the bypass for decades.
