Rivanna Supervisor Ken Boyd says he shares the doubts of local business leaders who are skeptical of the state’s latest list of Route 29 improvements. Boyd (pictured) is also skeptical of Governor McAuliffe’s approach to the “design-build” concept for road construction. Rio Supervisor Brad Sheffield disagrees with Boyd’s conclusions. He says Virginia has a new Governor, but VDOT has not changed. Meanwhile, the new leader of the Jefferson Area Tea Party views the state’s newest road plans as a political document. Mike Basile says East Rio Road should be able to absorb traffic from the John Warner Parkway, which goes between Melbourne Road in the city to the CATEC campus. The supervisors expect to adopt a resolution next week dealing with the Route 29 improvements.
