A missing person case is open again ten years later. That after human remains found last Wednesday near Keene have been identified as the body of Jesse Hicks, a Fluvanna County man who disappeared for no apparent reason back in Septbember 2004. His truck turned up four days later in an abandoned Nelson County parking area on Route 29 near Route 6 with no sign of foul play. Albemarle Police are now working the case with the Fluvanna Sheriff’s Office. County Police spokeswoman Carter Johnson says opening a case this old comes with challenges. “The investigators who began investigating this in 2004 in Fluvanna County are no longer there,” she said. “We have to pick up pieces and interview people who might not be in the area anymore. Certain challenges exist, even with the cause of death.” The cause still has yet to be determined by the state medical examiner. Anybody with information on the disappearance of Jesse Hicks should contact Detective Phil Giles with Albemarle Police at 972-4047 or CrimeStoppers at 977-4000.
