Comstock Wins Republican Nod For Virginia House Seat

A three-term member of the House of Delegates is the Republican nominee for a congressional seat. 54-year-old McLean resident Barbara Comstock¬†(pictured) was the top vote-getter in a GOP firehouse primary held Saturday in the Tenth Congressional District. Comstock hopes to succeed fellow Republican Frank Wolf who will retire after he completes his 17th term. She was born in New England, grew up in New Jersey, and her oldest son Dan graduated from UVA in 2005. Her Democratic opponent will be John Foust, who’s a Fairfax County supervisor. If Comstock holds the seat for the GOP in the fall, she will be the first woman to represent a Virginia district since Thelma Drake of Norfolk lost her reelection bid in 2008.
