Amtrak Train Hits Car Near Waverly

An Amtrak train hit a car in southeastern Virginia early Thursday morning. The driver was injured and was flown to VCU Medical Center. The injuries are described as not life-threatening. State Police say he attempted to go around a crossing bar. The Amtrak train was heading from Norfolk to Boston with 46 passengers on board when the collision occurred near Waverly at around 6 a.m. Nobody on the train was injured.
