Allen Issues Final Judgment In Challenge To Ban On Same-Sex Marriages

A federal judge has issued a final judgment in a legal challenge to Virginia’s constitutional amendment that bans same-sex marriages. Judge Arenda Wright Allen of Norfolk has now formally outlined the reasons she believes a part of the state constitution should be struck down. The clerk of the Norfolk Circuit Court and State Attorney General Mark Herring have filed paperwork that seeks a speedy appeal process. Manassas Delegate Bob Marshall, who’s a co-author of the 2006 amendment, says Allen should be impeached.  Marshall was a recent guest on the Schilling Show. Herring’s appeal does not defend Virginia’s ban on gay and lesbian marriages. The Attorney General says he wants a higher court to consider the matter quickly, and he hopes it will rule against the amendment.
