Albemarle Budget: Employees Get 1% Raise – Bright Stars Saved

A divided Albemarle Board of Supervisors has approved a new budget, and the salary increase is smaller than expected for general government employees. The county supervisors voted 5-1 Wednesday for a budget that includes a 1% pay increase. Ken Boyd cast the only vote against the more than $352 million spending plan.  The pay boost for those in general government is identical to what the Albemarle School Board approved in late April. The supervisors have also spared the Bright Stars and Family Support programs. The programs at Greer and Scottsville schools will continue after July first.
