Albemarle School Board Wrestles With Funding Gap

The Albemarle School Board wants more information about athletic expenses as it wrestles with a huge funding gap. Board members told advocates of swimming and diving programs on Tuesday their sports will not get singled out. Chairman Ned Gallaway and other board members are willing to consider higher fees, but they’re not eager to eliminate sports teams. The board is trying to narrow a $6.7 million dollar funding gap. School officials expect to have a spending plan after the board’s February 13th meeting.
