The Albemarle School Board has approved a more than $164 million funding request that’s heading to County Executive Tom Foley’s desk. The school system’s request exceeds the available revenues by nearly $6.7 million. Board members Eric Strucko and Steve Koleszar are hoping the county might get additional dollars from Richmond.¬†Foley will include the school board’s request in his proposed budget. Chairman Ned Gallaway (pictured) will meet with the county supervisors in early March to explain the school division’s needs. The board is required to approve a balanced budget later this spring.
