Albemarle Police Make Arrest Following Standoff On 29 North

Albemarle Police made an arrest Friday night following a tense standoff on 29 North. The incident began around 6:30 p.m. with a series of gunshots on Berkmar Drive. which runs parallel to the Brown auto complex on 29 North. An Albemarle SWAT unit including crisis negotiators was summoned to the scene for a standoff that lasted nearly four hours. It ended at around 10:15 p.m. when police officers escorted a shirtless male suspect out of the structure.
