The Ron Burgundy publicity blitz that was scheduled to continue today has been canceled, according to a post on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” Facebook page.

Will Ferrell was expected to host the popular sports news program alongside David Koechner. The actors were going to appear as their popular “Anchorman” characters Ron Burgundy and Champ Kind.

The network posted a message earlier saying, “Ron Burgundy’s ‘SportsCenter’ appearance Thursday has been canceled in light of breaking news out of Florida State regarding Jameis Winston.”

A 2 p.m. press conference is scheduled regarding sexual assault allegations against the FSU quarterback.

There was no immediate word on whether the appearance would be rescheduled.

The hosting gig was planned for just days after Ferrell co-anchored an entire local newscast in North Dakota as Burgundy.
