TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — You’ve heard of bridges or tunnels to nowhere. But officials in Tupelo, Mississippi are spending a big chunk of money to create a path from downtown to the birthplace to Elvis Presley.

The city council has awarded a $11.5 million contract to build the pathway, a project that is expected to take between 15 and 18 months.

The project will also add bike paths and sidewalks from downtown to Presley’s birthplace.

Presley was born in Tupelo on Jan. 8, 1935 — and moved to Memphis with his parents at age 13.
