NEW YORK (AP) — Christine McVie says the reason she quit Fleetwood Mac in 1998 is because she had a fear of flying.

McVie tells Rolling Stone there never was any tension between her and the rest of the band but she realized she was tired of traveling.

McVie got a house in the English countryside. Eventually, she got bored. She went to a therapist to conquer her fear of flying, and the therapist asked where she’d like to go. She said Maui.

It turns out Mick Fleetwood lives in Maui and was coming to England, so he offered to fly back with her. She says that took the pain out of sitting there on her own.

McVie will rejoin Fleetwood Mac for a world tour that starts Sept. 30 in Minneapolis.
