Chris Brown released from jail

R&B singer Chris Brown appears in court on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Los Angeles. Superior Court Judge James Brandlin ordered Brown to appear in court again next week to update him on efforts between the singer’s attorney and prosecutors to strike a deal on probation issues in the singer’s 2009 assault case filed after his attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna. Chris Brown has been released from jail, according to a U.S. report.

The R&B star was freed in the early hours of Monday morning after serving 108 days of his 131-day sentence, according to TMZ.com.

Brown has been behind bars since March after a judge sentenced him to jail time following his dismissal from a rehab clinic for breaking the facility’s rules.

He had been facing a year in prison, but he got credit for 116 days in court-ordered rehab and another 59 days he spent in custody last month as part of his probation violation case, which stemmed from his 2009 assault conviction for attacking his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

The 25 year old is still facing an assault trial in Washington, D.C. over allegations he attacked a man during an unprovoked altercation in October.
